TROY, MI – Approximately 200 volunteer tradesmen and support staff donated one of their Saturdays for the “Heat’s On” event for needy homeowners in certain southeast Michigan communities.

The workers and members of Pipefitters Local 636 spent the day at the Pipefitters Training Center on October 13, preparing heating systems for needy people in Detroit, Warren, Redford Township, and Pontiac areas — free of charge.

Workers visited 150 homes and performed services, which were valued up to $400 per home, according to Muriel Versagi, associate director of the Association of Service & Mechanical Contractors of Southeastern Michigan.
