According to Christopherson, the new book draws from his experience, both as an HVAC student and professor and as a field technician. "This book shows technicians how to apply their knowledge of the psychrometric chart and relate the chart to other HVAC concepts to solve real world problems. Just as engineers use the psychrometric chart and related calculations to design systems, technicians who understand the fundamentals of psychrometrics can determine why a particular system is not working properly."

The 130-page manual begins with a detailed explanation of the technical terms that are directly related to psychrometrics. Following a discussion of customer comfort, the book provides instruction on reading the psychrometric chart and then relates psychrometrics to a variety of HVAC topics, including sensible heating and cooling, heating and cooling with humidification, evaporative cooling, mixing air, airflow measurement, blower and motor calculations, and hydronics.
