Nov. 21, 2003: Carrier Honors Carnegie Mellon With Leadership Award

PITTSBURGH - Carnegie Mellon University has been recognized with a Carrier Regional Environmental Leadership Award. The award was presented to Carnegie Mellon for the HVAC portion of its recent Henderson House residence hall renovation during the Greenbuild International Conference & Expo. The U.S. Green Building Council hosted the conference at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh from Nov. 12-14, 2003.

Henderson House serves as a holistic health promotion model to the traditional residence hall setting. A recent renovation project - which included a high-efficiency 100-ton Carrier 30GX Ecologicâ„¢ (Eta) chiller and a 39M Aero air handling unit - qualified the building for registration under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating Systemâ„¢.

"Periodically, Carrier Corporation presents Regional Environmental Leadership Awards to recognize investments in energy-efficient projects, which provide innovative, environmentally-sound design solutions for buildings," said John Mandyck, Carrier's vice president of government and international relations. "Henderson Hall is a great example of green building design."
