Merger Aims To Increase Strength Of Florida Contractors

A merger by two Florida chapters of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) has formed a larger, stronger chapter that is expected to better represent the unionized sheet metal industry in the region, according to a story in SMACNews.

South Florida SMACNA and Central Florida SMACNA have merged to form Florida SMACNA, representing members in both central and southern Florida.

“With the encouragement of SMACNA National, the two chapters discussed the idea of a merger during chapter night at the annual convention in Boca Raton,” said Susan Karr, executive vice president of Florida SMACNA. “The contractors enjoyed the joint meetings with the exchange of ideas and information about the different regions. By coming together, the unionized sheet metal market in Florida will be strengthened.”
