• Emerson Electric Co. (St. Louis, MO) is expanding its e-business capabilities, entering into an enterprise-wide licensing agreement with E.piphany, Inc. (San Mateo, CA) that includes all modules of the E.piphany E.5™ system. The customer relationship management system will be implemented in several Emerson divisions by early 2001.
  • Honeywell International Inc. (Morris Township, NJ) reports that its third-quarter earnings rose 9%, meeting Wall Street forecasts, but sales growth was 3%, which was below expectations. The company earned $613 million, or 76 cents a share, in the quarter, up from $560 million, or 69 cents a share, a year earlier, excluding one-time items in both periods. Sales rose to $6.22 billion from $6.04 billion a year earlier.
  • Manitowoc Co., Inc. (Manitowoc, WI) reports that net earnings for the third quarter were $12.3 million, or $.50 per diluted share, compared with $19.4 million, or $.74 per diluted share, for the third quarter of 1999. Net sales were $210.8 million in the third quarter, compared with $213.9 million for the same period in 99.
  • Manitowoc Co. also announces that it will begin repurchasing shares of its common stock, carrying out a stock buyback program approved by the company's board of directors. The current 1-million share repurchase authorization represents approximately 4.1% of the company's 24.6-million total shares outstanding.
  • Mueller Industries, Inc. (Memphis, TN) reports the company's results for the third quarter. Earnings were 50 cents per diluted share compared with earnings per diluted share of 66 cents for the same period a year ago. Net income was $19.3 million, compared with $26.3 million for fiscal 1999. Net sales were $296 million, an increase of 2.8% over net sales of $287.9 million last year.
  • Burnham Corp. (Lancaster, PA) announces that the company had record sales for both the third quarter and for the nine months ending September 30 of $65.5 million and $158.1 million, respectively. The third quarter sales were an increase of 4.5% vs. the $62.7 million reported in the same period of 1999, which had been the previous record third quarter. Record earnings for the quarter were reported at $4.1 million.
  • Due to continued growth, Viconics Electronics Inc. (Montreal, PQ, Canada), a manufacturer of electronic controls for the hvac industry, has announced plans to build a new manufacturing plant and office. The building will be 27,000 sq ft (2500 sq m), which will be made up of 15,000 sq ft (1400 sq m) of production floor space and 12,000 sq ft (1100 sq m) of office space. The facility is scheduled to open in February 2001.
  • U.S. Electrical Motors, a division of Emerson Electric Co. (St. Louis, MO), introduces its new ALLGUARD® Motor Quality System on all low-voltage NEMA frame motors. This system is said to combine the best motor winding protection with the latest advancements in motor bearing lubrication.
  • ADSIL LC (Palm Coast, FL) now offers a five-year warranty program against failure of coils or fins due to corrosion once its AD30 coating has been applied. The warranty is underwritten by EquiGuard Insurance Inc.
