However, the cost of an at-home FES cycle was beyond his financial reach. That’s when The Joseph Groh Foundation stepped in.

Christine’s journey began after contracting COVID-19, which led to the development of a rare condition known as Necrotizing Autoimmune Myelopathy. 

John Milligan, who had been an equipment operator and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, was left paralyzed from the waist down by a car accident in 2022.

The foundation’s grant helped the family convert a garage into a handicapped-accessible bedroom and bathroom, and METUS contributed a mini-split system.
