MILWAUKEE - Johnson Controls received the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Export Achievement Award. The company, a member of the International District Energy Association (IDEA), was honored with the award at the association’s annual Campus Energy Conference held in Boston. Accepting the award on behalf of Johnson Controls was Anwar Hassan, VP of Industrial Products, and Joseph Brillhart, service branch manager based in Manhattan, N.Y.

The Export Achievement Award recognized the company’s successes in use of the Commerce Department’s exporting services to win district cooling contracts in the Middle East, particularly the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

“District energy is an amazingly efficient, environmentally responsible method of heating and cooling buildings, no matter where they are located,” said Allen Martin, vice president and general manager, North American Systems, Latin America, and Middle East, for Johnson Controls. “We’re honored to receive this award as it further validates the importance of meeting customers’ energy-efficiency needs, and for contributing to the growing strength and vitality of the U.S. economy.”
