Using a new software tool, palm-size personal computers can now be used to balance variable air volume (vav) boxes controlled by vav modular assembly (VMA) controllers. The VMA Balancing Tool (VBT) reduces the amount of time spent air balancing the vav zone by exchanging information directly with the VMA controller. The software is installed in a palm-size computer like the PalmPilot™ and connected to the VMA through a Cablepro converter. Johnson Controls, Inc., P.O.
