Jan. 26, 2004: ARI Releases Fourth Edition Of Textbook

ARLINGTON, Va. - The fourth edition of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute's (ARI's) completely revised textbook, is now in print. The textbook is one of the standard references for HVACR education training programs.

According to ARI, the book contains the most up-to-date information on fundamental concepts and practical applications derived from contributions from members, industry experts, and academic advisors, and is authored by long-time HVACR instructor Larry Jeffus.

"This is one of the most popular, and important, books in the industry," said Scott Boxer, chairman of the ARI Education and Training Committee. "The first three editions have been extremely popular and we expect this revised edition to be a bestseller as well."

According to the association, instructors will find the textbook useful with its up-to-date information on HVACR concepts and equipment. The textbook is also a resource for those preparing for the Industry Competency Exams (ICE) or for technicians reviewing for the North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification exam.

"This new edition of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning is ideal for anyone interested in basic refrigeration, commercial refrigeration, residential air conditioning, commercial air conditioning, warm air heating, hydronic heating, HVAC control systems, and servicing HVAC systems," said Ray Mach, ARI's director of Education.

The textbook contains sections on refrigeration principles, refrigeration service techniques, basic electricity/electronics, domestic and commercial refrigeration, air conditioning, heating systems, installation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance. The book includes color photos, four-color diagrams, questions and exercises, chapter reviews, and a glossary. Stressing state-of-the-art techniques, the book draws on field-tested training materials from a variety of industry sources. It also focuses on product knowledge, equipment selection, and maintenance applications.

For ordering information, contact Ray Mach at 703-524-8800 or rmach@ari.org; or order directly from Prentice-Hall by calling 800-282-0693 (for schools, call 800-922-0579) or visit www.prenhall.com. For all orders, use the reference number ISBN# 0-13-092571-3.
