Green Guide Released

VALLEY FORGE, Pa. - In an effort to combat the overwhelming flood of green information being released, CertainTeed has developed the “Green Building Products” reference guide. In combination with the reference guide, the company has also developed an educational booth that was unveiled at the Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in Chicago late last year. Both the booth and the brochure detail the sustainable qualities of products from the foundation of a building to its rooftop.

“Sustainable construction is undoubtedly one of the biggest and noisiest topics in our industry today. In this cluttered marketing environment, we understand the challenge in ascertaining what does and does not constitute green construction, which is why we created the CertainTeed Green Building Products reference guide,” said Eric Nilsson, vice president of CertainTeed Corporate Marketing. “This brochure, like our booth, was designed expressly to provide industry professionals a concise information source.”

CertainTeed designed the guide as a tool to help building professionals better understand the varied roles building products play in residential and commercial construction. The piece provides insight on building science as well as the contributions products can make toward sustainable construction and the maximization of a building’s useful life.

Practical product information is also charted regarding recycled content, use of harmful chemicals, third-party certifications, energy efficiency, carbon footprint, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® (LEED®)-NC and LEED-H credits, and green building guidelines from the National Association of Home Builders.
