Gas/Electric Packaged Units Introduced By Goodman

HOUSTON - Goodman Co. L.P. announced that it will begin production of two new packaged gas/electric convertible units this summer, the GPG12 Series (12 SEER) and the GPG10 Series (10 SEER).

These two units are the first Goodman package units to employ tubular heat exchangers, Copeland® compressors, and the new "Architectural Gray" UV-resistant, powder-paint finish. These features are being incorporated in the manufacturer's entire line of packaged units.

"After extensive customer input we have developed a product line that provides the efficiency and durability that homeowners expect, with installability and serviceability that the dealer needs," said Kim Flores, Goodman's product manager for packaged HVAC equipment.

The new, aluminized steel tubular heat exchanger "has proven to be incredibly durable," Flores said. The company is offering a 20-year limited warranty on the heat exchanger.

The units also feature factory-installed filter-driers, louvered guard protection on the condenser coils, aluminum fin coils with rifled copper tubing, a 1,075-rpm vertical-discharge condenser fan motor with removable grille, and in-shot gas burners with direct-spark ignition.

The units can be used in both downflow and horizontal applications. All units are 47 inches wide, 51 inches long, and can fit in the back of a standard-size pickup truck, the company said.
