Ferguson Honored by St. Jude Children's Hospital

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. - Ferguson, a wholesale distributor headquartered in Newport News, Va., was recognized by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway – 2009 Sponsor of the Year. Ferguson was selected for the award for its continuing dedication, involvement, and contributions to the Dream Home program nationwide. The company is the first and only recipient of this award to date.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a pediatric cancer center that denies no child treatment because of the family’s inability to pay. Its Dream Home Giveaway, which began in 1991, has evolved into a nationwide annual event that has raised more than $177 million to help treat and find a cure for cancer and other catastrophic diseases affecting children. The Dream Home campaign is a unique partnership where selected builders leverage their skills and contacts to construct a Dream Home largely utilizing donated land, materials, and labor. Participants in the giveaway can purchase tickets, which are $100 each, for the Dream Home raffles. All proceeds benefit St. Jude.

“We are truly honored to receive such a special award from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” said Ferguson’s David Via, general manager, Hampton Roads. “St. Jude is an amazing organization doing amazing work and worthy of all the support we can provide. At Ferguson we believe strongly in giving back to the communities where we do business. Supporting the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway program is one important example of that commitment.”

“Ferguson has been instrumental in the successful construction of our homes as well as a major sponsor for the campaign,” said Grace Ramos, associate director of ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “Their support enables St. Jude to continue the research and treatment at the hospital.”
