ORLANDO, Fla. - Engenuity Systems and Procuro Inc. announced an agreement to provide the Osmosis monitoring system to the building automation market.

According to the companies, Osmosis is a "simple, scalable Web-based monitoring tool that utilizes a small downloadable agent to connect to any control system." According to Engenuity Systems president Tracy Markie, Osmosis puts the power of a centralized operations center on a laptop or PDA and makes control system monitoring "as easy as chatting online."

"With virtually no upfront investment and almost no learning curve, companies and users can have access to all of their data 24/7 from anywhere in the world," Markie said. "How much more open can that be?"

In other news from Engenuity Systems:

  • The company will be an exclusive distributor of WebyPass from Ciac, located in France. WebyPass is described as "a complete access control system using EIA 709.1 standard."

  • It is the distributor of two estimating programs, the BAS Estimator developed by BAS Estimate (Shelby, Ohio), and the Concerto program developed by Independent Control Specialists (Ontario).

  • It is the exclusive North American distributor for Nico Technology products. Based in Taiwan, Nico Technology is known for its lighting and audiovisual control products throughout Asia.

  • It is the distributor of After-hours Control System (ACS) from Advanced Automated Systems (Yorba Linda, Calif.).

  • It is now the distributor of Newron Systems' (France) NLFacilities program to the North American market. NLFacilities is described as a software program based on LonWorks Network Systems, designed "to provide a simpler user interface, network manager, and template function so anyone can build and install an EIA 709.1 network with little or no LonWorks training."
