The next generation of Comfort Alert™ diagnostics, used for troubleshooting residential heat pumps and air conditioning systems, is now available. Installed in an outdoor-unit electrical box, the Comfort Alert can diagnose a variety of compressor and system problems. The enhanced diagnostics uses the Copeland Scroll™ compressor as a sensor for system faults. Its built-in communication capability improves system reliability by delivering fault codes to White-Rodgers® 1F95CA and 1F85CA thermostats, protecting the compressor when severe, compressor-damaging faults are detected, the company says. The new diagnostics enable better control of two-stage systems in which Copeland Scroll UltraTech™ compressors are used, states the manufacturer.
