The Smart Saver heat recovery coil now is a standard option on horizontally configured dehumidification equipment Dry-O-Tron® Series DS, RS, DA-5, and RA-5. The coil extracts heat from the exhaust airstream to preheat the outdoor airstream, thus requiring less energy for makeup-air heating, the company states. According to the manufacturer, the option's payback typically is less than two years and would save tens of thousands of dollars in energy costs over the useful life of the unit. The Smart Saver only is applicable to Dry-O-Tron dehumidifiers with exhaust fans and is most economically feasible for unit sizes with more than 7.5 tons of refrigeration, the manufacturer says.
