Certification Training for the Home Energy Rating System (HERS)

ALBANY, NY – The Building Performance Contractors Association (BPCA) has announced Certification Training for the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Raters in New York. The dates for the training are June 26-28th at the Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corp. in Fishkill, NY. Those who pass the HERS exam at the end of the training are qualified as a “Home Energy Rater,” allowing them to inspect homes for approval into the Energy Star Program.

The certification training will teach:

  • The responsibilities of a HERS rater;
  • How to successfully sell services to builders, homeowners, real estate agents, and bankers;
  • Energy-efficient mortgages;
  • How to use REM/Rate software;
  • How to perform a HERS rating; and
  • The program requirements for New York Energy Star homes.
