Bell & Gossett: Flow-Limiting Valve

The Circuit Sentry is an automatic flow-limiting valve designed to adjust hydronic HVAC systems to peak operating performance. The valve balances the system by compensating for hydronic pressure differences. It consists of a ball-type shutoff valve, commissioning measuring ports, and a flow control cartridge designed to maintain the flow rate at a constant level. According to the manufacturer, the automatic flow rate ensures the flow rate is maintained at a constant pressure, even under fluctuating pressure conditions from 2 PSID to 60 PSID. The company says the desired flow rate is maintained to ±5 percent. It is available in a variety of fixed-end connections on valves from 1/2 to 3 inches in size, with either fixed or sweat fixed ends and a union end with sweat, female, or male NPT.
