ATLANTA, GA — Solutions to improving indoor air quality (IAQ), whether in planes, classrooms, or hotels, will be a major focus of the technical program for the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ (ASHRAE) 2001 Annual Meeting, which takes place June 23-27, in Cincinnati, OH, at the Cincinnati Convention Center.

Concerns over IAQ in vehicles have grown as people spend more time in cars, buses, and trains. Data from the National Ambient Air Quality Standard indicates that vehicles contribute more than 25% of overall air pollution. A forum examines IAQ needs in transportation.

Hotel rooms odors which may be caused by smoking, food, water leaks, inadequate cleaning, and inadequate ventilation or air conditioning systems, can lead to lost revenue for hotel owners. Participants at a seminar share their experiences with hospitality industry odor problems and the challenges and opportunities they present.

Another forum examines experiences of designers, builders, and owners who have successfully controlled humidity in educational facilities.
