ARLINGTON, Va. - The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) has announced the release of its American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-recognized ACCA Manual SPS (HVAC Design for Swimming Pools and Spas). Input from original equipment manufacturers, mechanical contractors, and industry consultants is included in Manual SPS, said to be the HVAC industry’s first indoor pool and spa design standard.

According to ACCA, this standard has been created for mechanical and HVAC system designers and includes considerations for: envelope moisture/thermal barriers, design conditions for humid spaces, control space temperature, controlling space pressure, indoor air quality issues, engineered ventilation requirements, conditioning of outdoor and makeup air, heating and cooling loads, evaporation loads, heat recovery, water heating and water treatment, equipment choices, control options and operational strategies, supply air cfm and distribution and duct systems.

ACCA said that care has been taken to ensure that Manual SPS contains all the information needed by contractors to successfully complete a natatorium design. The new Manual SPS can be ordered online at www.acca.org/store or by phone at 888-290-2220.
