ACCA Elects New Leadership - Ray Isaac Named Chairman

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) introduced its 2008-2009 board of directors at the association’s conference in February. Ray Isaac, president of Isaac Heating & Air Conditioning in Rochester, N.Y., was elected to serve one year as chairman of the association. His father, Jim, served as ACCA chairman in 1990, making Isaac the first second-generation chairman in the association’s history.

In taking office at the annual ACCA Chairman’s Banquet in Colorado Springs, Isaac recognized the efforts of his immediate predecessor, 2007-2008 Chairman Phil Forner of Allendale Heating in Allendale, Mich.

He also laid out an ambitious agenda for his tenure at the association’s helm, identifying several objectives.

“For this coming year, I have made it a personal goal to lead the drive in the quest for professionalism in our businesses, our association, and our industry,” he said.

In seeking to expand the professionalism of the industry, he announced the formation of a Chapter Relations Committee, to improve communications between the segments of the ACCA federation; the development of a new “membership level” with stringent quality standards to allow contractors to differentiate themselves in their market; and the implementation of a new strategic plan for the association developed by the board of directors in 2007.

“We must never forget nor lose sight of why ACCA exists,” he said. “In business, nothing happens until someone buys something and becomes a customer. In an association, nothing happens until someone joins the association and becomes a member. Our members are our customers, and just as in business, we must make sure that our members continue to receive value and maximize their experience as a member and as a customer of ACCA.”

Other officers include: Stan Johnson of Stan’s Heating and Air Conditioning in Austin, Texas, senior vice chairman of ACCA for 2008-2009; Joe Nichter of Tri-City Mechanical in Chandler, Ariz., treasurer; and John Sedine of Engineered Heating and Cooling in Walker, Mich., secretary.
