EAST PETERSBURG, Pa. — The National Association of Oil & Energy Service Professionals (OESP) is accepting applications for the Dave Nelsen Scholarship Program until March 1. Since the fund was established in 1999, more than $191,000 has been awarded to students interested in pursuing careers in the energy service industry. This year, OESP, along with industry partners, plans to award at least four $5,000 scholarships.

“The oil and energy industry is continually looking for qualified technicians,” OESP executive director Judy Garber said. “OESP’s mission is education and we’re taking the lead by supporting our future technicians through annual scholarships.”

Each scholarship applicant is required to write a 500-word essay answering the following questions: “What are your goals in the oil-and-energy service field, and what appeals to you about the oil-and-energy industry?” Applicants must also complete a form that may assist them in the writing of their essay.
