FPL Energy, LLC, a subsidiary of FPL Group (Juno Beach, FL), has dedicated its 30-MW Montfort Wind Farm, one of the largest wind-power facilities in Wisconsin. Electricity generated at the Iowa County facility is being sold under multi-year contracts to Wisconsin Electric-Wisconsin Gas, a subsidiary of Wisconsin Energy Corp., and Alliant Energy-Wisconsin Power and Light. The wind farm is designed to create enough electricity to power 10,500 homes.

Also, FPL Energy and UtiliCorp United (Kansas City, KS) have activated the first operational wind turbines at one of the largest wind farms ever constructed in Kansas. Owned and operated by FPL, it will supply electricity to UtiliCorp’s customers in two states. Construction of 170 wind turbines, each about 214-ft high, is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
