According to Automotive Fleet’s 25th annual operating cost survey, 2016 marked the fourth consecutive year fleet operating costs remained stable, primarily due to lower gas and diesel prices. Other contributing factors include newer, more fuel-efficient vehicles and the increased implementation of telematics systems that result in improved route optimization and allow companies to easily identify drivers who are engaging in behaviors that decrease miles per gallon (mpg).
Compliance with the EPA’s 608 is a mandatory part of HVAC contracting. Techs are required to gain certification by an EPA-approved organization and pass their tests or else they are unqualified to work in the field.

In last month’s article, “Inside Filter Driers,” which appeared on Page 18 of the Feb. 6 issue of The NEWS, we covered the internal construction, filtering, and drying materials within a refrigerant filter drier. This month, we’ll deal with troubleshooting, service, and replacement of the filter drier.
Not understanding how some electronic controls operate and control a system can lead to misdiagnosing a system problem and costly repairs. It is best never to assume, but rather take the time to do some research and find out exactly how they operate. Guessing is rarely good and generally will lead to a misdiagnosis and cause a tech to replace the wrong part or component.
