Two members of RSES in Texas recently passed the organization’s Certificate Member (CM) exam and were awarded CM status. They are: Mark A. Ferguson, CM, of the Cowtown Chapter, Fort Worth, Texas, and Jose J. Medina, CM, of the Refrigeration Association of San Antonio Chapter, San Antonio.

Danfoss was recently named by the Economic Development Council of Tallahassee/Leon County as a featured business as part of the council’s “Made in Tallahassee: Produced Regionally, Sold Globally" initiative.

Uniweld and Tropic Supply Inc. teamed up to educate HVAC technicians on proper flame safety and procedures when working with flame tools. Throughout the month of May, Uniweld held nine seminars across the state of Florida.

South Carolina Air Distributors and Armstrong Air recently hosted the first-ever South Carolina All-Women’s Factory Tour and Luncheon. The event, which was held at the Allied Air Enterprises plant in Orangeburg, drew 100 women who work within the offices of contractors across the state.

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) has honored the memory of Hill York’s Robert S. Lafferty Sr. by naming its Central Energy Plant — one of the largest in the United States — after him. A pioneer in the air conditioning industry, Lafferty had the vision of air conditioning South Florida’s high-rises and hotels back in the 1950s.

Covanta Tulsa, Locke Supply, and the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) have partnered to provide a convenient way to recycle mercury-containing thermostats in Oklahoma. Residents and contractors will now be able to deliver old thermostats to any Locke Supply location for recycling free of charge.

Daikin Industries Ltd. announced that its board members have approved an expansion plan for its Goodman operations in the United States. Over the next several years, Daikin will be building a new state-of-the-art business campus that consolidates the current manufacturing and logistics operations to a location outside of Houston.

Anvil International LLC, a major manufacturer of pipe fittings, pipe hangers, and piping support systems, has opened a distribution center in Orlando, Florida. The center services the Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina pipes, valves, and fittings (PVF) market and carries products for plumbing, HVAC, and more.
