The SmartComfortâ„¢ VS 90 variable-speed, two-stage gas furnace can be installed in an upflow, downflow, horizontal left, or horizontal right configuration. The furnace offers an AFUE rating of 92 percent. The unit features dual certification for one- or two-pipe venting, stainless steel primary and secondary heat exchangers, two-stage gas valve, and two-stage fan timer. The SmartComfort VS 90 has connections for an electronic air cleaner, humidifier, and dehumidistat. According to the manufacturer, these furnaces contain the next generation of the 24-volt hot surface to pilot ignition system, which provides enhanced flame rectification, igniter voltage protection, and a diagnostic LED indicator located on the gas valve.
