On October 13, solar homes and businesses across the United States were opened to demonstrate to the public the practical use of solar as part of the American Solar Energy Society’s National Tour of Solar Homes. More than 800 houses and businesses in 44 states were made available for this event, compared to 630 a year ago. Early feedback from the society is that turnout was greater than last year, which is said to be most likely due to the California energy crisis and concerns about future energy availability.
