Sept. 28, 2004: Commercial Contracting Roundtable To Include Legal Workshops

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) announced that it will present several legal workshops designed specifically for commercial contractors at its first annual National Commercial Contracting Roundtable, "Opportunities Unlimited," Oct. 26-27 at the Sheraton Inner Harbor in Baltimore.

"Managing Risks with Contracts: Put Contract Law to Work for You" will feature a panel that will discuss "the good, the bad, and the ugly" aspects of contracts, from negotiation through implementation and dispute resolution. The emphasis will be on risk management through appropriate contract language, contract administration, and resolution of contract disputes.

"The Emergence of Mold Exposure Claims" workshop will discuss litigation and statutory developments with respect to mold claims; the current state of the medical evidence concerning the toxicity of mold; and protocols, policies, and agreements that contractors can use to reduce the likelihood of mold-related claims and litigation.

"Understanding Insurance: What a Contractor Needs to Know" will explore the principal insurance issues faced by the construction contractor. Issues that will be addressed include the availability of mold coverage, underwriting construction risks, determining premiums, assessing the types of coverage available to a contractor, insurance requirements in subcontracts, and indemnity agreements.

In addition to the legal workshops, three general sessions and other workshops are scheduled.

Registration costs $595 for ACCA members and $695 for non-members. For additional information and online registration, visit www.contractingroundtable.com or call Vickie Ellis at 703-824-8856.
