Fundamentals of Residential Load Calculation and System Design is a three-day course that teaches the concepts behind load calculation, equipment selection, duct design, and room air distribution. The design theory is then used as a foundation for hands-on training on computer-assisted system design software. An overview of the impact of the upcoming 13 SEER requirement on systems design has also been added to the course.
Upcoming dates include Sept. 28-30, Cincinnati; Oct. 5-7, Dallas; Oct. 26-28, Houston; Nov. 9-11, Charlotte, N.C.; Dec. 6-8, Jacksonville, Fla.; Jan. 11-13, Atlanta; and Feb. 22-24, Anaheim, Calif.
Fundamentals of Commercial Load Calculation and Systems Design teaches simplified, practical procedures for calculating the various components of a commercial facility's heating and cooling load, using ACCA's Manual N. While emphasis is placed on identifying and calculating peak load conditions, discussion is also directed at understanding the structure's needs under part-load conditions.
Scheduled dates include Oct. 11-13, New Hudson, Mich., and March 8-10, Sacramento, Calif.
Both the residential and commercial courses provide continuing education units plus 20 hours toward North American Technician Excellence (NATE) recertification. Tuition for the courses is $450 for ACCA members and $495 for nonmembers, which includes manuals and demo software.
Residential EPIC (Educational Program for Instructor Certification) is a course that certifies HVACR professionals to teach residential or commercial heating and cooling systems design using the industry-standard manuals and materials from ACCA's Environmental Systems Library.
The class is scheduled for Nov. 16-19 in Orlando, Fla. The cost is $750 for members, $850 for non-members and includes all seminar materials.
