The Validator Smart Fire/Smoke Damper System uses an open protocol to communicate with a building’s automation system. This can speed response in an emergency situation and greatly simplify normal operation, code-required testing, and routine maintenance procedures, the company says. With this system, building operators can remotely test and verify fire/smoke damper operation at any preset time. The Validator can be applied and installed along with the company’s standard fire/smoke dampers. The dampers are equipped with the Ruskin Smart Damper Controller (RSDC). Up to 99 RSDCs can be used in a single system, the company says. Each RSDC is then connected to the Open Protocol Validator router to provide integration to a number of computer-based systems.
