DES PLAINES, IL — The Educational Foundation of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) recently expanded its National Technician Certification (NTC) program to a total of nine certification categories.

The new categories of certification include gas heating, hot water heating, and steam heating. In addition, the foundation separated the formerly combined refrigeration and air conditioning category into two individual categories. The categories of heat pump service technician, heat pump installer, and heat pump designer-estimator remain unchanged.

“This expansion of the NTC program represents yet another example of how RSES is responding to an evolving marketplace,” says RSES Educational & Examining Board chairman L. (Shorty) Shuck, CMS. “Contractors and technicians who asked us to revive our certification program expressed desire for more focused assessments of competence.”
