WASHINGTON - Those interested in recommending changes to the latest National Fuel Gas Code (ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54-2002) can send their proposals to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) or American Gas Association (AGA).

The National Fuel Gas Code provides criteria on most aspects of fuel-gas installations on consumer premises. Coverage includes gas piping materials, system design, installation and inspections; combustion air; equipment venting; and specific equipment installation criteria. Many local gas utilities and federal, state, and local officials use the National Gas Code to judge the acceptability of fuel-gas installations.

Proposals must be received by Dec. 23 in order to be considered for the 2005 edition of the code. Proposals may be submitted electronically via the NFPA Web site or the American Gas Association (AGA) Web site.

For more information, visit www.nfpa.org or www.aga.org.
