Provinces Launch Incentive Programs
Two Canadian provinces have launched incentive programs: British Columbia’s LiveSmart BC and Saskatchewan’s EnerGuide for Houses.
A new two-year, $42 million LiveSmart BC: Efficiency Incentive Program has been enacted to help British Columbians reduce both their carbon footprint and their energy costs through incentives to make their homes more energy efficient.
This offer is available to homeowners in British Columbia who have not yet accessed incentives from either the LiveSmart BC or ecoENERGY Programs. The program was launched on April 1, 2011. An energy assessment must be completed within 18 months of the initial assessment or before March 31, 2013, whichever comes first.
A $100 rebate is also available to homeowners when they have a qualifying furnace, heat pump, or boiler installed by an HRAI Skilltech Certified Professional.

The government of Saskatchewan has renewed the Saskatchewan EnerGuide for Houses program. The new program will be in effect from April 1, 2011 through Oct. 31, 2013. The maximum grant for a dwelling is $5,000 and is subject to availability of funding.
