Global Energy Group Inc. was recently awarded a contract to provide air conditioning equipment for 10 post offices in Florida. The company said that the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has a strong program to reduce energy consumption. The contract is part of a long-term program between the USPS and TECO Solutions, a unit of TECO Energy TE, to improve the energy efficiency of postal facilities.

Global Energy has worked with TECO Solutions in the past on other postal facilities in Florida. With the completion of the buildings under this current contract, the company will have installed a total of 15 systems for post offices throughout the state. The latest phase of energy conservation and capital improvements with the USPS will include Global Energy’s Inventor Series 1400 packaged air conditioning units and its EER+ retrofit units.

Global Energy said that results differ from building to building, but the equipment should improve energy efficiency by up to 40 percent, reducing both electrical demand and consumption.
