Performance From a Handheld Unit

Itronix Corp., Spokane, WA, has announced the availability of its Husky fex21 handheld wireless computer with Citrix Systems’ Independent Computing Architecture (ICA®) technology. Applying ICA gives users a high level of server-based performance, comparable to that of applications running locally on a desktop, says the company.

The technology provides “Virtual Screen Control,” allowing handheld PCs to navigate application displays designed for larger desktop screens. ICA enables users to access applications, such as Windows office productivity and line-of-business tools, via a wireless network.

Marco Landi, general manager for handheld products at Itronix, noted that the introduction of this technology gives personnel “much greater scope to utilize server-based applications and databases in order to complete their allotted tasks more quickly and efficiently.”
