Oct. 2, 2002: Canadian Residential A/C Shipments Up Sharply

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Canada — According to the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI), residential air conditioning unit shipments increased 41% during the second quarter of 2002. Residential furnace shipments increased 7% and chiller bookings increased less than 1%.

HRAI says that unit heater shipments and commercial air conditioning shipments decreased by 18% and 5%, respectively.

Year-to-date, residential air conditioning shipments are ahead by 37%, followed by chiller bookings at 16% and residential furnaces at 14%. Unit heater shipments are down 20% while commercial air conditioning figures are down 5% as of the end of June 2002.
