BALTIMORE - Diane Shea, executive director of the National Association of State Energy Officials, will discuss the role of states in developing an energy efficiency policy at the second 2006 EnVisioneeringSM Symposium, to be held Oct. 25 at the Chicago O'Hare Hilton.

The symposium is being organized by Global Strategy Initiative, a Washington, D.C.-based consulting firm, and is sponsored by Danfoss, a leader in research, development, and production of mechanical and electronic components for applications in refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, and motion control.

Shea and other industry experts will note that a transformed world is raising energy challenges for business and government at all levels. Some states are pushing to lead the drive for innovation, while many manufacturers fear state-by-state regulation.

According to Danfoss, the symposium will provide an opportunity for senior-level dialogue among industry participants on advanced state strategies in launching a new era in energy efficiency. Topics will include:

  • Path-breaking state and regional initiatives.

  • New regulations and incentives.

  • Drivers and problems of state action.

  • Are utilities helping build critical mass for energy efficiency?

  • Mechanisms for financing energy-efficient purchasing.

  • What the next decade will bring.

The Oct. 25 symposium will be the second in a series of conferences that make up the EnVisioneering Symposium series. The inaugural conference in Kansas City focused on how energy challenges of the 21st century are transforming business strategy and the conditions of American international policy. The third symposium is planned for December in Washington, D.C., on "America's Global Energy Technology Strategy."

In January 2007, at the AHR Expo in Dallas, Danfoss will release a comprehensive report detailing the discussions and ideas generated at these conferences. For more information about the Danfoss EnVisioneering Symposium, visit www.envisioneering.danfoss.com/symposium.
