November AC Shipments Were Up From 2000

ARLINGTON, VA — Combined U.S. factory shipments of 333,414 central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps for November 2001 were up 1% compared to shipments from the same month in 2000, according to Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) statistics.

Heat pump shipments of 96,695 were up 9% compared to November 2000. Year-to-date unitary shipments were down 6% compared to the previous year.

November 2001 factory stocks were down 42,754 units from October 2001, and down 119,331 units from November 2000. Distributor inventories for November 2001 were down 44,955 units from October 2001, and down 191,592 units from November 2000.

Finally, distributor shipments for November 2001 were up 13% from November 2000, with year-to-date shipments down 3%.
