Nov. 25, 2002: New Manual J Instructor Certification Workshops Scheduled

ARLINGTON, VA — The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) has extended its series of three-day "Instructor Certification Workshops" on the new eighth edition of Manual J™, the industry-standard residential load calculation procedure. In cooperation with ACCA affiliates around the country, 11 new workshops have been scheduled through the first half of 2003.

Workshops scheduled for 2003 include: Nashville, TN (January 28-30); Portland, OR (February 11-13); Fort Lauderdale, FL (February 18-20); Dallas, TX (March 18-20); St. Louis, MO (March 25-27); Boston, MA (April 1-3); Baltimore, MD (April 14-16); Charlotte, NC (April 22-24); Parsippany, NJ (May 6-8); Los Angeles, CA (May 27-29); and Columbus, OH (June 3-5).

Manual J, published by ACCA, is required by many building codes around the country in the design and installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. It has also been endorsed by the U.S. Department of Energy (Right-Size Heating and Cooling Equipment, January 2002) for correct, energy-efficient HVAC installation.

During the Instructor Certification Workshops, attendees will learn from ACCA technical manual author, Hank Rutkowski, for three days, including one day of software application training and demonstration. Attendees will be tested and certified as instructors in Manual J load calculation.

Registration is $750 for ACCA members and $850 for non-members, and includes the three-day workshop, materials, and a copy of Manual J and demo software. Online registration is available at www.acca.org, or call 703-575-4477.

Manual J, Eighth Edition, is also available for purchase, at a cost of $79 for members, $179 for non-members. The manuals may be purchased online at www.acca.org or by calling ACCA's catalog line at 888-290-2220.
