ROCKVILLE, Md. - The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) has announced that member company, and MSCA STAR Contractor, Rabe Environmental Systems Inc., of Erie, Pa., received the 2006 Governor's Award for Safety Excellence from Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell.

The governor presented the award to Rabe and four other companies during the Governor's Occupational Safety and Health Conference in Hershey, Pa. "Reducing workplace accidents and injuries should be a top priority for every business and every worker in the commonwealth," said Rendell. "These five employers and their workers are setting a great example that improved employee health and job safety raise the bottom line and make businesses more competitive. Their efforts and practices are long-term investments in their workers and in Pennsylvania's economic success."

Richard Patrizia, president and CEO of Rabe, said, "This award belongs to the employees of Rabe. Their efforts and commitment to safety made this award possible."
