NEW YORK, NY — The New York Energy Buyers Forum (NYEBF), a coalition of commercial energy customers and suppliers in the New York City area, will sponsor a panel to discuss summer energy reliability and recommend proactive emergency measures to take in the event that electricity supplies are interrupted.

The meeting will take place May 23, 2001, at Columbia University, Shapiro Engineering Center.

Featured speakers will include individuals from Con Edison, the City of New York, and the consumer sector.

NYEBF chairman Anthony Campbell will discuss the differences and similarities between California’s and New York’s energy situations. Also, representatives of Con Edison will describe the recent investments and upgrades made to strengthen energy reliability.

The goal of the discussion, according to NYEBF, is to educate consumers while preparing the public for possible in-city voltage reductions or brownouts like those in California.
