NADCA Revises ACR Standard

WASHINGTON - The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) has revised and updated the standard "Assessment, Cleaning, & Restoration of HVAC Systems (ACR)." The 2005 edition of the standard, which was developed through peer review, is currently available.

According to NADCA, the new standard's language has been updated to coincide with new terminology used in the indoor air quality industry for the assessment and remediation of mold in HVAC systems. ACR 2005 defines conditions under which mold remediation must be performed in accordance with the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC), citing IICRC's standard as a reference. NADCA has added further definitions and procedures for dealing with water damage. The new edition immediately replaced the 2002 edition, with certification testing on ACR 2005 scheduled to begin in March 2005.

Copies of the standard can be ordered by visiting www.nadca.com/_secure/bookstore.asp.
