MILWAUKEE and LOUISVILLE, Colo. - Johnson Controls Inc. has formed a strategic alliance with StrionAir Inc. to offer StrionAir's patented air-purification system to Johnson Controls customers.

StrionAir's technology combines ionization, electrostatics, and mechanical filtration to provide a high-performance, low-resistance-to-airflow, germicidally active air purification solution for commercial HVAC systems, says the company. Its germicidal effectiveness has been documented in laboratory studies against numerous airborne pathogens, the company says.

"Johnson Controls is always seeking out innovative technologies like StrionAir's GC System to integrate into our vertical-industry solutions," said Don Albinger, vice president - Global Product Sales at Johnson Controls. "By leveraging the StrionAir system's performance, cost reduction, IAQ, and security-related benefits within Johnson Controls' broad array of world-class facility solutions, we are able to offer customers in diverse industries high-value solutions to their most pressing facility problems."

"We are proud to partner with an industry leader such as Johnson Controls who has the scope and scale to expedite the rollout of our breakthrough air purification technology," said Bruce Dawson, StrionAir's president and CEO. "Together with Johnson Controls, we will provide unrivaled solutions to today's most pressing air purification issues that affect building occupants, processes, and equipment."
