WASHINGTON - The United Association (UA) has introduced a new Green Awareness Training and Certification Program to help contractors and their employees understand the emerging concepts, terminology, systems, and products that are considered green.

The 20-hour training program is designed to provide participants with the information they need to understand, purchase, and utilize energy-efficient green products. A "green awareness certification" designation will be awarded upon successful completion of the training program. The program will also be offered this year as part of the UA's instructor training program so that UA instructors will be able to provide this training and certification in their local areas.

The program was developed by HVAC Excellence, an independent third-party national accreditation program for HVAC educational programs and schools, Ferris State University, and the Green Mechanical Council, an organization dedicated to providing contractors and the public with information on green mechanical systems and technologies.

For more information on the Green Awareness Certification program, contact Steve Allen, UA director of HVACR training and recruiting, at stevea@uanet.org.
