A Detroit School District spokesperson said there is no evidence that black mold caused any sickness among building occupants. The closure and clean-up is being called a “precautionary measure” to ensure the safety of students and staff.
The latest clean-up comes after an environmental consulting firm was hired to conduct air quality tests following the discovery of a leaking water pipe under the classroom. The tests revealed the presence of black mold.
