Liebert, Emerson Network Power: Data Center Cooling Systems

Four new models of the DS system are available. The DS is a cooling system used to control temperature, air quality, and humidity in controlled environments such as data centers and computer rooms. They use digital scroll compressors. The DS units are 53-, 70-, 77-, and 105-kW downflow products. With the Paradenserâ„¢ condenser, the cooling system can be installed using traditional refrigerants and later transitioned to green refrigerants with no loss in capacity. The iComâ„¢ control system enables increased interunit coordination and provides advanced diagnostics and service capabilities. Features include a new blower drive system, permanently lubricated 200,000-hour bearings; and an auto-tensioning motor base that eliminates the need for manually tightening the belts. Utilizing the Dual Cool option, a conventional air-cooled DS unit is converted to a dual-source cooling system by the addition of a second coil that utilizes a central building chiller supply. With a modulating control valve and a comparative temperature sensor, the unit can function either as a chilled-water system, as a compressorized system, or as a combination of both.
