SkillsUSA and Klein Tools are excited to announce National Signing Day 2019, celebrating thousands of high school seniors dedicated to pursuing a career in the skilled trades.
GPS Education Partners and Gustave A. Larson Company announced a strategic partnership to build industry talent pools using a youth apprenticeship model designed by GPSEd. The program will match student workers with HVACR jobs and expose them to career pathways in the industry, all while earning their high school diploma.
Washtenaw Community College has been the UA partner in this endeavor for 29 years, and the instructor training program has seen increased participation both in information technology professional (ITP) certificates as well as associate’s degrees awarded.
These new programs and reactivations include occupations such as machinist, HVACR technician, electrician, plumber, cement mason, ironworker, operating engineer, and a new occupation in certified cyber analyst operator.
Considering how much the federal government affects the HVACR industry, it was only natural for ACCA to hold its 2018 Annual Conference and IE3 Expo at the Gaylord National Harbor in Washington, D.C.
On June 15, 2017, President Trump signed the executive order expanding apprenticeship programs and vocational training. This executive order calls on the Secretary of Labor, Alexander Acosta, “to propose regulations that promote the development of apprenticeship programs by industry and trade groups, nonprofit organizations, unions, and joint labor-management organizations,”
The 20 plumbing and 12 HVAC apprentices participating in the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association (PHCC) Educational Foundation’s annual apprentice contests last month proved that the future of their industry is in good hands.
