June 29, 2009: New Training DVD Offered on Proper Use of Test Instruments

TUCSON, Ariz. - Technical Training Associates, an Arizona-based firm that produces HVACR technician training video programs, has announced a new release, Proper Use Of Test Instruments & Service Equipment: Using Analog & Digital Meters, which is written and presented by Jim Johnson. This first in a planned series of DVD programs has a 60-minute run time and includes a CD containing an accompanying guide that, when printed in hard copy, is used as a follow-along, interactive resource while the DVD is being viewed. The DVD/CD package is priced at $39.95.

“We get requests regularly from service managers and instructors for a program on how to use test equipment properly while servicing and troubleshooting HVACR equipment, and we are sure that this program will fill that need,” said Johnson, who also writes a troubleshooting column for the Extra Edition page of The NEWS Website.

In addition to covering safety issues, the program employs test equipment from several different manufacturers (Fieldpiece, Fluke, UEI, and MA Line) to show how to properly use meters when accomplishing continuity and resistance, ac and dc voltage, capacitance, current, and temperature measurements.

Johnson described the program as being “like all of our other productions … a nuts and bolts approach to getting things done that will ultimately lead to understanding and evaluating HVACR equipment in order to troubleshoot effectively.”
