June 19, 2003: Mechanical Contracting Foundation Changes Name, Expands Role

ROCKVILLE, Md. — The board of trustees of the Mechanical Contracting Foundation announced at the Mechanical Contractors Association of America’s (MCAA’s) Mid-Year Education Conference in Philadelphia that the foundation has changed its name to the Mechanical Contracting Education & Research Foundation (MCERF).

MCERF president Bob FitzGerald said the new name “reflects a new, more comprehensive approach to the foundation’s mission. The changes we’ve made respond to and anticipate the evolving needs of MCAA’s members.”

As MCERF continues to fund industry research, it will also significantly expand its role in attracting people into the mechanical contracting industry by funding scholarships and working more closely with MCAA’s student chapters and college faculty. MCERF will work with the association’s Career Development Committee to finalize the scope of the new scholarship/student chapter support effort.

An operating plan will be presented to the MCERF board of trustees for funding at its December 3 meeting in Long Boat Key, Fla.
