July 31, 2009: Danfoss Turbocor Restructures Its Retrofit Market Segment

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - As part of a strategic assessment for market growth and expansion over the next three years, Danfoss Turbocor Compressors (DTC) has implemented a restructuring of its retrofit market segment. According to the company, this restructuring introduces a new approach to better serve customers by establishing prequalified Retrofit Solution Providers (RSPs), who will become the primary channels for the distribution and application of Danfoss Turbocor Compressors.

The RSPs include original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that will market their own retrofit applications, as well as OEMs who will work with independent retrofit contractors qualified by DTC.

There are currently two prequalified RSPs through which DTC will exclusively sell products to expand the retrofit market within North America: Smardt Retrofit Solutions Inc., Dorval, Quebec, and MagLev™ Retrofit Solutions, Sparta, Wis. These RSPs will be responsible for administering support and service to the existing base of retrofit contractors, as well as enlisting and recruiting new retrofit contractors to serve the marketplace.

“DTC believes this approach will provide a continued opportunity for growth and expansion of the retrofit market as these RSPs can provide a complete systems solution and technical support, from application right through to after sales and service,” said Uwe Seemann, chief sales and marketing officer for Danfoss Turbocor Compressors.

Each contractor will have the opportunity to work through one of the RSPs to market and sell retrofit solutions using Danfoss Turbocor Compressors trademarks and product literature. DTC will continue to promote retrofit applications on its Website, as well as marketing information directed through one of the RSPs.
