July 2, 2002: May Unitary Shipments Continue To Climb
ARLINGTON, VA — According to Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) statistics, combined U.S. factory shipments of 847,716 central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps in May continued to rise, showing a 9% increase compared to shipments for the same month last year.
The combined year-to-date total is 3,035,366, up 6% from January to May 2001.
Heat pump shipments for May of 173,496 increased 6% compared to May 2001. The year-to-date total is 677,339, up 7% from the same period last year.
